Hulo ~ how ah you ~

I'm a beginner , currently my road bike uses a Continental Gatorskin 700x23c .
A friend is using Continental Grand Prix .

What is the differences ? Or its just the name ?

I'm quite interested with car racing where tyre choices is vital and huge .
Like soft - hard - normal - wet - rally compound .
Is there something like that on cycles as well ?

Thanks . Sorry if this is a lousy question .

Gatorskins are a strong winter/trainer/commuter tyre offering excellent p******e protection. I use them on my commuter.

Grand Prix are a faster rolling performance oriented tyre. I use GP 4000s on my CAAD.

Hope that helps

I too have a racing car and know the difference that tyres can make on it, nothing better than a nice set of slicks.

I found that the same can be said for bike tyres too.

I went from the standard Spesh tyres that can with my bike to some continental GP 4000s. It made a huge difference and I would thorouly recommend it.

So it means that Gatorskin had more puncture protection but lower speed .
GP4000 had lower protection but is faster .
I geddit !!
I will try search for the categories on the net and see which one I will upgrade to ~

:addict: if anyone is interested ~
I did not realise both sets of tyres I use are classed as competition tyres by Continental, GP 4000s on one bike and GP 4 Seasons on the other.
