Tyres - Rim Compatability

I have just received the 2 Continental 4000S tyres that I ordered from Merlin cycles. As an aside I must say I cannot fault the service, ordered 10:19 Friday delivered Saturday for £50, impressive!
However being an old duffer and not used to all this new fangled modern stuff rather alarmingly I find these to be foldable tyres.
The problem I am now facing is that my wheels were built by Mel Bentley some considerable time ago and use Mavic Open SUP CD rims. Reading the instructions I suspect these are not suitable for folding tyres?
I would be grateful if somebody could confirm if my fears are correct, and also what my options are with regards to Continental tyres.

They will be absolutely fine

unless your rims are tubular rims, but then you haven't said they are..

I presume there clincher rims like other Open Pros I've encountered, if so there wont be a problem. The only other type I've heard of are those for tubular tyres

Had a horrible vision of discovering a mismatch on a nice descent, not that I am in anyway quick either up or downhill.
