Cerne Abbas Giant is this a girl or boy ,not sure now after looking at the dog/horse thing . mind you iam not a barking mad vet with poor eyesight and if it is a welsh dragon where are its wings ?
The people at the time carved a figure on the hillside after the reported sighting of a large beast. Can someone explain to me why it has two tongues? And what are the spikes on its shoulders?
I'm not entirely sure there were horses in Britain at that time. The hill figure is dated at 1000 BC, and the Romans brought horses to Britain.
The Romans, dismissing the ancient Britons' cults and religions, named the hill figure 'the white horse', to offset the stories of giant beasts from 1000 years previous.
I do not believe it is a horse, or a dog, or a cat for that matter.
By some weird co-incidence, just to the north of the hill figure is a small conical mound with a flat top. Adjacent to the mound is a flat area, that resembles the site of an encampment.
The small conical mound is known as 'Dragon Hill'... Why?
If you stand on the hillside above the hill figure's eye and cast your sight to Dragon Hill, the pathway from the flat on Dragon Hill is in alignment with the hill figure's eye.
Continue that alignment southward into the night sky and it would have pointed at Sirius rising in 1000 BC.
