New to the site today, thanks for adding me. I am considering a cycle tour from Corby, Northants to Iznajar, Spain, about 1250 miles. I would be aiming in the direction of Portsmouth, Caen, Bordeaux, Madrid, Jaen and towards Iznajar. Now, I'm not an experienced cyclist and I know some training and preperation is required, and to this end I'm setting a rough date of July next year. I have looked at several sites regarding the most appropriate route, and I would like to hear from anybody who can help me out on this with suggestions and general advice please.
The training started today, ie diet!
Many thanks, Tiddy

The first time I crossed Spain was directly after a week long bender, prior I'd done zero training or preparation either, at 49 I didn't have any problems at all. Do you have time? If so, I'd recommend going along the Cantabrian coast and then heading SW using minor roads and the N-630 when you need to make good progress, it's a wonderful ride, beautiful and with many historic places to visit, with very little traffic, down to Seville and then head East to Iznajar.
