Ultegra short mech

Just been talking to a guy who is running short cage Ultegra mech with a maximum 32 cog.He said that he is not having any problems with this set up.28 maximum is the stated maximum.
Has any one run a similar set up above the stated 28 tooth maximum 34 50 compact

If shimano don't recommended it,then it doesn't work the way they intended to,just as copy shimano parts work,sunrace,microshift etc...they work but are compromising the shifting,but people that have these parts don't know any different

I think it depends on your hanger length as well as the mech , no idea if that is true but heard someone say it before.
