I just caught part of a programme called Ultimate Emergency Bikers on Channel 5. Our highly trained Ultimate Emergency Police Biker (UEPB) was just setting off but before long there was an Ultimate Emergency to deal with!

Voiceover: "5 bikers are riding at crazy speeds of up to 140 mph in traffic, but UEPB is in hot pursuit of them ..."

We see the view from UEPB's helmet cam. Yes, they certainly are riding dangerously. We see them weaving in and out of traffic at speeds up to 140 mph - this is madness! They shoot past some cyclists. UEMB is finding it hard to stay with them as he also weaves in and out of traffic at speeds of up to 140 mph. Er, surely he is taking crazy risks too ..?

No, don't be silly!

Voiceover: "UEPB is highly trained to carry out this kind of high speed pursuit in heavy traffic!"

Phew, thank goodness for that!

UEPB catches the crazy bikers one by one and flags them down. He sets off in pursuit of the one in front. Eventually, he has them all gathered together at the road side. Middle-aged 'born-again' bikers. One admits to being "old enough to know better". He gives them a severe telling off ...

UEPB: "You guys were doing 140 mph in traffic. I know that because I had to do 140 mph to stay with you. That's just crazy. I don't care how well-trained you are, how skilful you are - you never know when some motorist in front of you might pull out to overtake or turn right. You could have ended up smeared all over the road! Riding the way you just did was absolute madness!"

Quite right - only a complete idiot would ride at 140 mph in traffic; anything could have happened! Thank goodness we had UEPB willing to ride at 140 mph in traffic to catch them and point out the stupidity of what they had just done ...

I didn't bother, I watched the first half of the Manta Ray wild life program then watched the Dinosaurs That type of program was interesting when they first were shown but they have done too many of them now.

That's all I watched. I couldn't believe that the police officer couldn't see that his very true statement should equally well apply to him!

I don't care what training you've had - if you chase motorbikes at 140+ mph in heavy traffic you are adding to the problem not solving it!

If they are going to follow bikers at those speeds, they should use a helicopter to do it and photograph the number plates, not overtake the bikers and try to make them pull over.
