Factoid of the day.

ASH, the anti-smoking charity, gets "just 2% of its money from voluntary contributions. The rest of its money is paid to it by the government."

Not tobacco, but nicotine: snus is very popular in Sweden, and there is no direct link to cancer (AFAIK) despite the authorities doing their best to prove otherwise.

I don't smoke, but 'snus' on occasions.

I stopped just over nine years ago. It was one of the best and most difficult things I have ever done, because I am a nicotine addict.

It was making that realisation that helped me through the process, and keeps me off. There is no "safe" cigarette for me: my choices are limited to none or 40 a day.

It saddens me to see so many young people starting to smoke cigarettes. There is no positive aspect to this activity, only negative ones.

It's the only product I know of where, if you use it exactly as you are supposed to, it can lead to serious illness or death.
