Are all other cyclists with cameras not already doing this for them? Is the whole point to shock them into not repeat offending because the fines are insufficient to do that?

I'd become a police officer on a split second if I could just cycle about all day.

IIRC west midlands police were the first to pilot such a scheme at some point last year. The first operation or two they just gave the drivers a talking to and for subsequent ops they've been issuing fines to drivers. Its the only thing that will bring about a change in driver behaviour but it has to be done regularly and consistently, rather than a handful of times for the press, otherwise it won't drive any behavioural changes.

I have at least six close passes just as as bad (or worse) each commute - and I don't live in the city

If I had cameras on the bike, they'd be nobody left on the road

(assuming anyone took notice of the footage and acted upon it)

I might be the wrong person to comment, based on recent events. Plenty of resource for this, without giving any tickets, but nothing for the actual incidents were vehicles actually do hit riders.

farking publicity stunt. Why no tickets?
