Not the only time i have had a Pro's bike in my hands but many years ago i was at the start of Gent-Wevelgem in the town square with my wife talking to Sean Yates in his Peugeot days who i knew.
Lots of fans were pushing forward to catch a glimpse of the riders signing on when Mrs festival said " the next person to shove into me is going to get a thump back, a few seconds later it happened, as she swung around even she recognized the great Sean Kelly pushing through the crowd to get up the steps to sign on. As she stepped aside he said " hold my bike for me" and just handed it over to her and disappeared in to the crowd. I don't know if he mistook us for someone? Sean Yates moved on and we felt the eyes of the crowd looking at us. she wouldn't let me hold it insisting it was her he had asked. About 5 mins later he reappeared thanked her and was away.
