Underwater Camera for Hols

Im off to the Maldives soon.

As the holiday of a lifetime for me - I was thinking about getting an underwater camera - nothing fancy - wonder if anyone has any recommendations ?

Thats the sort of thing I had in mind - how would I ensure its not a copy ?

I have a Panasonic DC-FT7 waterproof to 31m and drop resistant from 2m.

Frankly, as I don't scuba dive, at 31m I'd be more interested in getting back to the surface than taking photos! However at least my watch would still be telling the time, accurate to 1 second/year! That's proof down to 100m.

I bought a Chinese generic housing for our camera, a fixed lens, middling grade snappy camera I guess. Can't make a specific recommendation as we simply bought a housing for the camera we have. I seem to recall the housing was maybe £150 or so.

Often use it on video mode and got some
nice shots inside and underneath the wrecks in Scapa
