By the time you get to 70 you`ll be looking at a top of the range bike or better a credit note of several hundreds for you to spend at your favourite bike shop

Happy Birthday. What a brilliant idea.
I was 75 this week. I try to celebrate my birthdays by going for a ride the equivalent in miles to my age (ie 75 miles this time).

I recall that for some reason it was a lot easier when I was 30 - but at my age I can't quite remember why ...

A non cycling friend suggested kms next year, and metres the following one.

All very useful in their own way..... but Number 5 ? Mesh sided shorts are never a good look. I think I'll quietly give them a miss.
