At about 6.30 this morning, riding into work, you couldn't see a thing: new energy saving street lights, ha ha!
Anyway, I was behind a bus (just as well I wasn't in front of it!) suddenly I hear a mighty "bang!": back tyre flat!
Not much I could do, could not even see to check what caused it, so I wheel the bike for the last mile into work.
Do a 12 hour shift, then set about to change the inner tube - tyre is a recently fitted Marathon original, I know what's coming to me
Took me an hour, but I fixed it. Rode slowly back home on an underinflated back wheel, it took me, was surprised.
What caused the puncture? This sharp don't know what it is rolled from under the mudguard:

A hinge of some sort? From another bike? Could be.
Got home, inflated the tyre properly with my track pump, dried & mickled the bike.
I work in a building full of cameras, 24 hour security, night shift cleaners, what have you.
Nobody came to ask if they could help.
Puah! .... I'm off to bed, you better not be asking me for a free coffee anytime soon xx(
Forgot: my new spare inner tube is in my bike bag, in a freezer bag with added talcum powder - for next time

If you'd wheeled it to Queen Street I'd have sorted it for you Pat:hello:.... looked at your pic but have no idea what caused it.

I've had two punctures this month, both from large shards of glass going through relatively new Marathon Plus tyres. I know they're good but not good enough for Glesga roads.

Anyhoo.... I now carry a few cable ties with me which makes refitting a doddle.... check the thread on the forum..... there's a link to a youtube vid. See ya soon. G

Looks oddly like a cleat plate?

It's harsh that nobody offered to help, I got a puncture at the top of a big hill in the middle of nowhere yesterday and TWO people came out from behind some massive security gates (that hide a big house) and asked if I needed any help, and then a very expensive car drove through the gates and stopped to ask if I needed any help. I was really impressed!

Last Deflationary Event I had, I was just refitting the tyre when a guy in a Discovery stopped opposite me and asked if I needed any help. I thanked but said I'd just got it done. It was the first person I'd seen. Shows what nice folks they are out here .

The item in the picture is not of this planet. It bodes ill for all mankind.

This is just the beginning and it will get much, much worse - very soon.

They are coming from across the Solar System and we are doomed.

I saw a fascinating and very frightening documentary about this with Tom Cruise and his two kids. I am not making this up.

Go and buy a new solenoid for your car and make sure you know how to change it.

I'm off to the shelters.

I recall having some difficulty with a crank on my road bike. Was attempting to fix it outside an RC church in Chipping (Ribble Valley) and not one of the emerging congregation paused as they passed on by. Didn't even look. Next time, I'll try the CoE lot:smile:

Bad luck - still it could have been further away from work?

[whisper mode] I've gone quite a while since my last visit from the fairy, and I hope to keep it that way, but you know it's kind of inevitable [/whisper mode]

I would have probably stopped - luckily every time I do they always say they have just about finished, as I always wonder if I would be much help. Just occasionally I've been able to lend a pump or a wipe to clean their hands afterwards.

Yes it looks like a plate from the days before clipless, I remember having something similar on a set of pedals many years ago.
