Yes it looks like a plate from the days before clipless, I remember having something similar on a set of pedals many years ago.
I knew it came from a bike, and I knew it was not from mine!
Thanks for that!

Bad luck - still it could have been further away from work?

[whisper mode] I've gone quite a while since my last visit from the fairy, and I hope to keep it that way, but you know it's kind of inevitable [/whisper mode]

I would have probably stopped - luckily every time I do they always say they have just about finished, as I always wonder if I would be much help. Just occasionally I've been able to lend a pump or a wipe to clean their hands afterwards.
Hi Summerdays!
I was not grumpy (that was last night, I'm over it now  ) because nobody helped on the road, it was far too dark anyway, and, as you pointed out, near work, walked the mile, was still on time.
No, I was really cheesed off because in work, when they all saw me struggling, none came to offer help.
The place is full of workmen: ok, not all know about bikes, but I could have used a set of strong arms for the inflating after I fitted the tyre.
A woman colleague today said it's because I'm not a 20 year old dollybird. Maybe this is true, maybe not ... never been the dollybird kind even at 20, and I'm well past it now
Nae worries: another cycling experience under my belt!

What caused the puncture? This sharp don't know what it is rolled from under the mudguard:

Those mudguards are so dangerous ;)

So somebody had a clipless moment.

Well you know that what goes around comes around - next time one of these "workmen" slices a finger or an arm off remind them of that moment they could have helped you but didn't!!!

He, he: not quite, had all the essentials with me, tools, spares, even ideas aplenty (done it before :pump:).
It took me an hour because the Marathon was new, unwelding to my superwoman's strenght :girl:

Ah, it's clear now. What you really mean is..

"It took me an hour because - Marathon"

On some rims, Marathons leave you wishing you had an angle grinder to cut the thing off. Regardless of whether you are Minnie Mouse or Hulk Hogan
