I sold my Decathlon tourer to a pal who wanted to do a bit of cycle camping. I didn't think that the bike would see much action. I rang him today and not only is he getting out on it three or four times a week, he's already racked up a twenty mile ride.

He announced that he wants to come on tour with me along the Danube this summer. I've said yes because it will inject more than a frison of excitement as there will be another source of unexpected incidents. It should be a laugh and he should be able to cope with the leisure pace that I pootle at.

Roll on end of summer term.

Now introduce him to pies.

Pies have been absent from my diet for most of this year.

There were two highlights to my FNRttC ride the other Friday. One of them was the presence of pork pies in the buffet in the pub at Garthorpe at the half way mark.

I've only had one visit to Greenwoods in Boroughbridge this year and I've not made any pies.

I will be having a pie fest when I reach 280lbs

I'm still planning on having a pie ride. It's likely to be be late August or in September now. Too many things on at the moment:

Weight to lose
Festivals to get brainless at.
Gigs to attend
Cycle tour to complete
Audaxes booked and yet to be ridden
School trip to London...

It's looking good. Rohit did a thirty miler yesterday. I've planned an itinerary that will allow us to get wasted on at least four days and it only requires the approval of his wife before train booking takes place next week.

I've pedalled from Donnauschingen to Passau and enjoyed that stretch. Apparently the best is yet to come. I've done LEJOG and JOGLE and at some stage will be cycling the Camina yada yada yada having had my interest in it aroused by an article about it in the CTC comic earlier this year.

The ride is definitely on :hyper:

My pal is going to miss a large Hindu wedding that is a large wedding within the Hindu faith not a large Hindu getting married to come touring with me. His wife is a tad unhappy but has reached the same conclusion as my wife - it will be good to get rid of us from under their feet for a spell.

He's all fired up and logging his rides with his iPhone. I've sent him an equipment list and he's purchasing from it already.

Woot woot!

Further unintended consequences will probably include Rohit sorting himself out to post on this forum (to offer an alternative viewpoint of a joint venture / the best Hindu pie shops / burfee outlet tour arrangements etc) and the almost inevitable n+1...steaming over the horizon already I suspect. Wafting your shiny toy under his nose, Vernon, may cause unnecessary pangs of desire.

Rohit's got too many other distractions to be a regular poster on CC or any other forums. He does, however, enjoy mischief which augers well for an enjoyable tour. I'm not sure about the n+1. He still has a considerable drain on his finances from his kids and family activities.
