Unpleasantness

I'm dubious about posting this as it's not a particularly positive encounter to share with everybody and I've been trying not to post videos of the less enjoyable aspects of commuting, however one side of having the camera is that it provides an opportunity to vent the days frustrations rather than bottle them up.

A south London encounter:

And on a lighter note (think of it as a potter's wheel intermission) some footage of a cyclist going through a tunnel, seems to be popular round these parts:

The comments on the video page suggest that nobody recognises what he is doing...unlike here. Bit worrying for when he gets behind the wheel as col and Keith Oates have pointed out.

People go nuts for all the wrong reasons don't they?

Last night I was happily cycling down the road and there is a point where the road curves badly and there are three really big drain covers right by the side of the road just a that point. There are ALWAYS parked cars around and I find that cars tend to take the "racing line" on this bit and not follow the road line so always squeeze you in to the kerb and the drain covers.

I checked behind just before I got to this point and there was a lady in a Micra overtaking me really nice and wide so I pulled out a little to get around the drain covers.

Next thing I know there's a Honda Civic Type R screaming past me shouting - "get out of the road you fu*king tw*t" at me!

I took offence at being called that for just moving over to miss something obstructing the road - my view is that if you are not leaving me enough room to miss something in the road you are not giving me enough room - Mrs Micra Lady had no trouble and she was right next to me!

I gave him the middle finger as he went past me!

Oh my god you would think I had killed his kid brother or something - he screeched to a hault just after the traffic lights (a few feet after he overtook me of course) and was obviously going to remonstrate with me but luckily for me the cars trying to turn right were honking him and he decided to carry straight on instead. (I turned left like the chicken that I am so I wouldn't catch up with him - I am a woman you know - I was scared!!!)

I just can't understand - if it's okay for him to call me a fu*king tw*t but not okay for me to give him the finger?!

If someone came up and threatened me like that out of the blue (for his mistake) and I caught it on camera, I would be contacting the police (I assume you have the reg). At the very least they should reprimand him for his attitude and at least then a black mark will be against his name. Should he decided to take this sort of situation any further in the future the black mark would increase the likelihood of something being done.

At the very least a visit by the plod would at least make him think twice.

Just my 2p.

I assume he was annoyed as you were in the bus lane and therefore in his way! Looking at the time on the clip he cut you up first and came back to have go at you? Nice language too. Nice threats. Excellent fodder for a future London cabbie:angry:

I got hooted by a woman scooter rider down one of Boris Johnson's wonderful red route bus lanes for me to get out of her way. The lights were red too so a bit idiotic really. Hope the less experienced scooter/motorbike riders don't start assuming cyclists "have" to get out of their way in the bus lanes. This scooter rider obviously assumed that she had some sort of priority over cyclists ahead of her.

think the hairdryer rider was annoyed from being shouted to for cutting across the cyclist.

with regards to moped riders squeezing past, right turn signal?

I would be tempted to rip his head of if he spoke to me like that ,but being muscular build I think he would have thought twice. Nevertherless I think the best policy is what mag says above . BTW Magnatom you should have egged him on actually:evil:.. if you was in that position,it would have been great to watch him get floored with a judo move:biggrin:,in self defence of course, that would have been so satisfying to watch, just to prove cyclists are no pushovers.

Crivens! What a waste of atoms that gentleman was. I hope he doesn't kiss his nana with that mouth.

Before I go on about reporting to the poh leese, did you report that one where the car hit you (about 2 months ago? was it you?) and, if so, have plod responded?
