I've been playing with Linux for quite a few years now, various distros, and I love the fact that it just seems to work and keep working. I used to be really into computers, even fixing them as a sideline but don't have the same interest anymore and just want something that works without hassle. Linux fits the bill imo but I have to admit that I bought a XP equipped desktop a while back as it was cheap and still a decent spec while all my other PCs were ancients built up from spare parts. My original intention was to put Ubuntu on it, but XP seems to work fine and is genuinely a huge improvement over the likes of 98/ME/2000 which I had used in the past. It is my first real experience of using XP and I really can see it's appeal.
But at the first sign of trouble with XP, the HD will be promptly wiped and a nice Linux install will be put on in it's place
