I've got a USB-C dongle with an HDMI out plus USB-PD power delivery in and a couple of USB-A sockets. I use it for playing my Steam Deck on the TV. It's this one

I couldn't find it the other day, so I used one that work provided with my laptop, a Ugreen branded one, visually very similar but has 3 USB-A inputs, 2 SD card slots in the end, and no PD.

Same TV, same console, same cable, but the colours looked really washed out and dull on the Ugreen. The next day I found my normal one and the difference was night and day. The colours really pop on the TV OLED screen from the "Newmight" one.

Both are inexpensive devices. Arguably the Ugreen is a more well known brand so you'd expect that one to be better. Really though, I'd expect them to be very similar; the HDMI standard, a digital signal both in and out, and commodity chips. It was a surprise there was such a difference in quality.

The Ugreen is fine for work apps, but If I'd taken it on holiday to play films from my Macbook onto a telly, I'd be annoyed with it.

All the single connector cables are generally ok, but multi socket adaptors can vary quite a bit in quality.
