Shimano adds computer control to Dura Ace Di2 levers
"Shimano Dura Ace Di2 shift levers will soon be able to control Garmin, Magellan, and PRO cycling computers.

The Dura Ace shifters have a small button on the top of each hood that, until now, had no function. But with the addition of Shimano’s D-Fly unit, a transmitter that plugs into the Di2 wiring system, those buttons will be able to send a signal to compatible computers to perform basic functions like scrolling through screens.

The transmitter was introduced in early 2014 after VeloNews spotted it on European test bikes. It is sold for $80(£52)."

You know I get in trouble for buying bike stuff @classic33

so it's a good job I dont have Di2 or a Garmin just yet or these would be on a van heading my way soon enough.

Grr - appears not to apply for Ultegra Di2 - I've never noticed a button above the hood for them anyway! Its probably a good job as I'd spend the money on a gadget I'd hardly ever use!

Sounds like nice buttons for using other tech, not sure what would be usefull. (A hood-button operated machine gun maybe:tongue:)

Hopefully it will be more configurable than the Garmin remote. All I wanted to do is perform the same as "tap the screen" when its on turn by turn directions... but no, don't seem to be able to configure it to do that... PIA!
