How generous of them to offer half of your statutory CRA 2015 rights!

Yarp, but as my dedicated Cinch post explained, we had quite a few issues which were put right straight away with no quibbling. I've heard many other stories where others didn't get such an easy ride, or the dealer just refused to respond. Especially difficult if you buy from somewhere not near your home

There's not much, if any wiggle room, on used cars these days. Especially if a cash buyer. We bought a new to us car back in September, and paid sticker price as did my father-in-law about a month before us.

A lot of smaller dealers are struggling to buy cars since the start of WBAC and Motorway etc, they sure cannot give them away, margins are tight. I have met many people in my time in the business who think the dealers get the cars for free, they do not.

Not quite true.

A warranty means that even if it can be shown that the defect was not inherent at the time of purchase, you still get the fix/replacem,ent.

The statutory rights give an assumption that any fault discovered in the first 6 months was present at the time of sale, but if it can be shown otherwise, then you get nothing.

And is also subject to the consideration of what is "satisfactory quality" in a second hand car of the relevant age and mileage.

Not quite right.

With CRA the legally binding presuption is that any fault occurring within 6 months was either present or developing at the time of sale.

The only exceptions are if the vendor can reasonably prove that the vehicle was of satisfactory quality at the point of sale and the fault is caused by damage/poor maintenance/misuse on the part of the owner. That applies equally seller supplied warranties.

So while Cinch's customer service is supposed to be very good (my Sister bought a car from them and was quite happy) their stated 3 month warranty cover is, for all reasonable intents and purposes, identical to your statutory rights...but for only half the time.

Reminds me of the Ryan cinch advert that was so sexist.....! But that's another story.

Shove them through the auction and then the dealers and public get to fight over them. I used to sell a lot of cars through auctions when I started in the business, they were seldom cheap enough for me to buy from and make a margin. Buyers commission is huge unless you buy a lot of cars from them and it drops a bit.
