Not really, its held in a tank.
I expect everybody already knew that - its got to come out the TANK to get to the engine. Hence mentioning the "fuel filters", "Carburettors - atomisers", "fuel injectors", "the fuel cap - for filling the TANK" and "Air Filters."
I've yet to drive a bike that didn't have fuel spill over from accidental overfilling at refill time - it runs down the sides of the TANK into the fairings over the cylinderhead / around the gearbox.
Any blowback through the carburettors infects the airfilter with fuel and accumulates in the airbox - which will have a drain hole for the fuel to leak out. The fuel gets to the carbs through pipes/hoses that often leak.
Fuel injectors are fed from the TANK by pipes/hoses that have passed through a fuel filter(mostly found on the outside of the TANK for ease of servicing), these pipes/hoses often leak. I'm not talking excessive amounts - just drips / dribbles / splashes - but enough.
Yes there is indeed fuel around the bike other than IN the TANK, most of it harmless unless exposed to a source of ignition - which a rocket / firework is.
It was just a passing remark - by the way! But a truthful one. Hence the wink. "
