What's the brake? A Shimano rollerbrake? That should have a special Nexus brake grease according to http://www.sheldonbrown.com/rollerbrakes.html - you might be able to replace it with some other greases but I'd be surprised if copper grease was one of them.

Shimano do a special grease for use in their roller brakes. Going from the colour it's not copper grease though.

I can't see from your picture what make your roller brake is though.

It says DIA-COMPE on it. Here's a set of service docs for a similar brake on another brand http://volto.co.nz/docs/Diacompe_Service.pdf which suggests CV Joint Grease will work. That Chinese sticker probably says "Insert Grease" with the arrow pointing at the cap at the top.

I still wouldn't put regular copper grease anywhere near it. Too thick and wrong stuff in it. I think it's more of an antiseize than a lubricant.

This third party maintenance document suggests CV joint grease.

I found this thread useful to solve the exact same issue.
Since I live on the top of a 1:7 1/2 mile long hill I use the brakes a lot so sooner or later I'll be needing to replace the whole (roller brake) unit. I had a look to see where I could buy one and this raised a few questions
1) a Dia Compe MLB-50 is available (from Japan - postage to UK doubles the cost ) but is that the correct unit for the E-Voyager Pro-Rider ?
2) does the replacement have to be Dia Compe or is there a generic alternative (e.g there are some "servo 90" units on Ebay that look similar and are much cheaper) ?

Moly grease (the black stuff) is good for this sort of job. It's what you use in cheap coaster brakes.
