***Price dropped to £1400***

The classic multi-use titanium bike and winner of C+ Touring Bike of the Year in 2008, I bought this direct from Van Nicholas as a build-to-order in 2008 and I’ve since done 18481 miles on it, no touring, just day rides, never crashed or raced!. All original paperwork is available.

The frame is 3AL/2.5V brushed titanium which has a light sheen and is fitted with 3 x sets of bottle mounts, mudguard and rack mounts, chain pip and rear disc mount. It features lovely laser cut signature dropouts. I have fitted marine grade stainless steel bolts and washers. I always clean my bike after every ride and the titanium cleans up so easily with a wash and wipe down with GT85. There are no marks or scratches, another plus for titanium.

The frame is a 58cm but in reality is more like a 56cm (I’m 5’ 11” and it was sized for me by VN). Geometry is 72º steerer, 73º seat tube, wheelbase is 1030mm, effective top tube is 566mm, (actual is 550mm), head tube is 165mm. The rear OLN is intentionally 132.5mm, allowing the use of road or mtb hubs (I’ve used both).

I removed most of the decals - included are two spare sets of (very expensive!) decals and chainstay guards if you want to replace or add more. The current top tube decal has a couple of minor marks.

I changed the SLX Touring fork in 2012 (7725 miles) to a VN Audax carbon fork (as fitted to the Yukon), which was significantly lighter, gave a far better ride and allowed me to fit the excellent Shimano Ultegra level R650 dual pivot caliper brake. The alloy steerer is cut to 65mm above the headset.

The Shimano MTB triple gives gearing from 18” to 108” (although in reality I spent 90% or more of my time on the middle ring, 27" to 78”) and works perfectly with the Tiagra STI shifters.

The 700C wheels were built for me by Van Nicholas - these have done 7500 miles as I’ve used others in the interim and they are in excellent condition. The classic touring rims are 32 hole DRC ST17’s on Deore XT hubs (rear 135mm OLN). Spokes are 3x. Rear has just had hub bearings greased and adjusted. VN titanium QR's are included, as well as the unused XT ones. I use KoolStop pads and the wear line on the rims shows plenty of life (as I rarely go out in the rain!). Tyres fitted are good condition Vredestein Fortezzon Senso Xtreme Weather 28c’s with Continental inner tubes and rim tape.

Other components as follows;

Chainset - M770 Deore XT with replacement XT bottom bracket, 44-32-22, 175mm, no pedals. Almost new middle ring.
Chain - KMC XL EL extra light (new at 17130 miles)
Rear derailleur - M770 Deore XT (new jockey wheels at 14071 miles)
Front derailleur - replacement Tiagra
Cassette - 9 speed Deore XT 11-32 (new at 17130 miles)
Shift levers - Tiagra STI’s, some light scuffing but nothing obvious
Front brake - Shimano Ultegra level R650 dual pivot caliper brake, 57mm drop, new KoolStop pads at 16035 miles (excellent stoppers!)
Rear brake - Shimano BR550 cantilevers with KoolStop pads
Handlebars - FSA Omega Compact, shallow drop, 42cm c/c with VN bar tape. A new set of VN bar tape is also included.
Stem - Specialized 12º x 110mmComp Road multi-position (this comes with spare inserts which allow adjustment of the angle from 8º to 16º)
Steeerer (alloy) - this is cut high as I like an upright position and has 65mm of alloy spacers
Headset - FSA Orbit MX, threadless sealed bearing, 1 1/8”
Cables- I replaced all of the VN ones with DuraAce light grey
Seat post - 27.2mm Pro black alloy
Mudguards - 35mm SKS Chromoplastic, the front is fixed with a Problem Solvers Sheldon Fender Nut so that it can be removed without disturbing the brake
No pedals or saddle included

Current price for just the frame and fork is around £1500, fully built this bike would be over £2500.

Asking £1400 firm with no offers, to include new bar tape, new XT skewers, spare decal sets and chainstay guards, spare stem inserts. Collect from Hereford or could meet within a 25-35 mile radius (eg Shrewsbury, Worcester, M5, Gloucester/Cheltenham). I can box up for shipping if you arrange and pay for a courier to collect.
