Worked straight out of the box for me even rode home wearing them, now I wouldn't go back.
I bought the Elite varifocal lenses - £119 from Specsavers

I found as others have said, once you get use to them they are great. At first I thought what have I done but after a short time I think they are brilliant. No chopping and changing glasses and only need to carry one pair. I have just ordered two pairs to replace a pair I lost.

I picked up a pair earlier this week, and cannot get on with them at all at work where I need to use the computer which involves looking at 2 screens at different levels and a keyboard (cos I cannae type properly and have to look up and down all the time with my 2 finger typing style)

I was told to give them a couple of weeks, but they are now back in the case and will not be coming out again; I'll wait til a week on Monday and take them back.

Varifocals all the way for me too, to honest i've actually seen me get into the shower wearing my glasses because they are so "natural"??? I forget I am wearing them. I have a pair of dark tint varifocals in the car for wearing in bright sunny conditions,as you can imagine they get very little use ^_^

I have no problem with varifocals, wife couldn't cope. But remember to look down when at the kerb or on stairs.

"Point the nose"

Best advice I was given

The problem is getting used to the lenses as you move your head

BY a positive movemet from point A to point B without a "wobbly bit" in between it makes the process far easier

These posts.
Love mine. Took a couple of days to get used to them.
Just remember to point your nose. Best advice ever.

Mine are from Specsavers. With the Reacolite lenses. So i don't have to bother with clip ons.Superb, best specs yet.

It seems to be if you are dull and boring and have no life that varifocals work, on the other hand if you have to get on with life at a quicker face than "twattingly annoying" then chuck them.

I suppose I'd better include this :boxing:

I find mine brilliant. Got them from a proper optician, had lots of explanation before hand. I found i had to tilt the seat in my car forward a tad so I was looking through the distance part when driving without holding my head at a funny angle. (I tend to drive with my head against the headrest).

Judging by the number of replies, most of cc members seem to be wearing glasses.:laugh:
Thanks for all the opinions and I will let you know how I get on when I collect them in 10 to 14 days.:okay:

I can still remember the days when I had to carry two pairs of glasses, one on the end of my nose and another in my pocket. What a nightmare that was especially when doing things such as presentations that required me to continually switch between both pairs.

Then I tried varifocals and they were just so uncomfortable that I continued to use my reading glasses for computer work. That was until one day when I forgot to take them into the office and I was left with no choice other than to use the varifocals, and from that day onwards I've never since needed my reading glasses.

If we have no choice in the matter then it's amazing how we can adapt to new experiences. Had I not forgotten my reading glasses that day, it would have taken me much longer to adapt.

Photochromic was mentioned in an earlier post. They are a menace when in sunlight with dark areas like in tree shaded roads. They do not adjust quickly enough to changes in light intensity and you have lots of blind spots. Very dangerous, cannot see potholes or indeed anything in front of you until they adjust. Never tried varifocus so cannot comment.

Here for rides.
occupational varifocals for me, though I rarely take them off during the working day. I have a backup pair, less than ideal style of frame for the purpose, lethal on staircases.
