Of course it's illegal to have anything stuck within the sweep of your windscreen wipers. Or so I've heard.

Let's see: millions of drivers are storing their private property on public land, mostly for free (or a small token cost); ie parking on the roadside. You have to expect a loss of privacy when you do that. If you want privacy, keep your car on private land.
