Often better off buying a 1 yr old car from the likes of motorpoint ect as they will give you a px price.
The new price will be subject to the initial big hit.

Or sell the car via we buy any car and then you will have cash..
My daughter got 1100 for her polo 04 plate from we buy any.
Px on a new yaris was similar at toyota

I learned that not all these schemes are actually called ''scrappage.'' The inference being that many polluting cars will be resold. Cheap but nasty....

They need to start shifting metal, amongst the 20 or so main dealers I service all have had a bad September, used car stocks are also very low on the ground.

Much the same as new bike sales I guess.

I think the manufacturers are simply using the bad publicity about diesel to get you into the showrooms. The adverts speak of "up to £x, but IIRC, Government grants for electric/hybrid cars were cut last year, so the max discount is likely to apply to only certain vehicles
I suppose it boils to whether you can afford, or are happy to take the 1st year new car depreciation, which is almost certainly going to be much greater than the discount being offered.

Due to the OPs handle he might be interested to know vans are also included I believe.

Watch out for the Toxicity Charge coming in on the 23rd October for Londoners.

If the government were to introduce a scrapage scheme that would be worthwhile but I read they are not keen. In the meantime you need to do your sums very carefully to se what the real savings are,
