What the hell is that? It is not made of carbon-fibre. Does not compute ... ;)

I'd like something like that as a pub/shopping bike.

And I think I spotted theclaud in Arrivee recently. Hope you don't mind me mentioning this theclaud, apologies if you do.

Not at all, Longers. Is that the Audax mag? I did do a couple last year so there might be a snap somewhere. But I wasn't aware that we'd met and so am surprised to be recognised - was I clad in some CycleChat gear or something?

Blow to the ego of course , but I'm quite glad the thread isn't about me - I wasn't aiming to be venerable just yet. And Waitrose is too far upmarket for Swansea - I think the nearest is in Chepstow.

Yes it was Reynolds 531: the semi-intact decal was on the top of the seat tube. So at least the main tubes were. Didn't look to see if the fork blades had that one.

While we're on the subject of bike lights; anyone remember (maybe they're best forgotten) the Wonderlights, with the plastic bracket and ball and socket joint? Their rattling sent you insane and they died at the most inconvenient moments.
Found a pic:-

Happy times: heigh-ho!
And they took a big flat 4.5V battery didn't they? Cost something like £4 for the Duracell version time even back then! Whatta pile of rubbish they were!

I still have a back light version of that, the one that takes 2xD cells. Can't quite bring myself to throw it out, it acts as a powerful reminder of how terrible lights used to be. Tempted to store tools in the battery space if I could take the rattling noise. Its holder is still on the rack on the hack, the bolts for it are rusted in place.

I put two and two together from having read a FNRTTC thread or two that must have had a photo in, the setting for the audax and the name was also a big clue.

I can't properly remember the name of the ride fully, Gorseinon??? it had a few hills according to the author and I think there was sunshine in the photo's.

I see, Detective Longers! The would have been Carreg Cennen Castle on a glorious day in September. Very beautiful route, although it was my first Audax and I hadn't known that the organisers are so sadistic in their route-planning. They seem keen to make sure you never hold on to the high ground. Sorry - all this is a bit OT!
