It's true, according to this site on etiquette in Wales:Welsh people seem to be better behaved than the rest of the country then as I never get verbal abuse in my part of the world. One example, Iast Tuesday in Conwy, I was filtering traffic on my left when a woman stepped out just in front of me. I avoided her and she couldn't apologise enough as I swerved round her. I must be lucky to live where I do.
- Being polite is highly valued. Expect a lot of "please" and "thank you" and "sorry".
- The Welsh tend to be more indirect than overly direct. Being too blunt may be considered impolite in many situations.
- Pay attention to tone of voice and facial expression as it may be an indication of what is really being conveyed.
