Pukka are not good pies sadly.

Brandane

The Costa Clyde rain magnet.
£48.95 for the privilege of being an advertising board?
Much the same tactics have been used by Irn Bru and Heinz Beans, amongst others. As a matter of principle, I wouldn't buy any of those types of branded tops.

Thanks for pointing the shirt out to me.

Three things mitigate against me ever wearing one:

1. I don't do Pukka pies - they are vile at worst and mediocre at best.
2. I don't like the design
3. I studiously avoid team/advertising tops though Irn Bru, Desperate Dan and Heinz have tempted me in the past.

When I last contemplated buying a team top it was a national team shirt to subvert the purpose of the shirt and mess with peoples' heads. I couldn't make my mind up between:

So I decided to stick with:

The first two are pencilled in for next year's riding when I am slimmer after restricting my pie intake

On the subject of pies Greenwoods of Boroughbridge delivered a perfect 10 with their pork pies last Saturday. They have a new pie mould - I like to think that I made a substantial contribution to the wearing out of their last pie mould.

When I were a lad, my mum used to make the most delicious corned beef pie, with the shortest of pastry, filled with the thickest of dark brown gravy and err corned beef: big lumps of it.
I played in the local park on Saturday mornings and drooled at the thought of going home at lunchtime, to a big slab of it, peas and a huge pile of creamy mash. All with a dollop of ketchup.

Very similar experience as a kid....except with my grandad's home grown and made pickled red cabbage and proper mushy peas.

I have a waiting list of colleagues wanting to sample my pies. I'm getting rather picky now on who get to sample my wares. Folk who buy me beer, bring some home cooking in to share or are just good eggs rise to the top of the list.

I have the ingredients to make a corned beef pie or an Indian potato pie over the weekend for school. Just deciding my sharing strategy.....

Vern, my climbing buddy lives in Vinery Road, LS4 so next time I'm over to visit him I'm going to meet up with you. I'll bring you one of those M&S runny yolk scotch eggs and you can sample me with a couple of your local favourites. Maybe we can even get a ride in?
