Thought I had it beat with next (got to 37 questions and then it got it!)

It asked me if the character had ever been Pope, then asked if the character was Catholic

I tried Finbarr Saunders too (well...) and it got close, with Johnny Fartpants but subsequent guesses were wide of the mark, then I got bored with it.
