Enormous turnover of engineering staff I hear, lured in by good salaries but driven away by allegedly having good engineering practice overridden by timescales and budgets.

I made a few attempts to contact the Google moon race teams without much luck.

Yeah, but it's not meant to - it's a helping hand toward commercial success.

Ask you buddy if the ESA takes volunteers for out of hours work...
