There are no tubes today Orig, no buses either!

TfL

All is quiet outside Tdr1nka Towers apart from the sound of the occasional car crawling pathetically up the road...........

Northern Line is still running!

'Tis the very backbone of the tube network that line, the 'Pony Express' of the London Underground!

I walked to Surbiton Station. They could have got me into Waterloo but could not guarantee a return service. So walked back home.

I did think about cycling. Even got my cycling gear on this morning. But just too snowy around here. Did see six cyclists on my walk to the Station and back, though. Two walking. The others looked very slippery.

You made the right choice C of G - I saw 2 pedestrians fall and 3 cyclists hit the road (all at very low speed though and they were all OK). At one stage I was pedaling with my left leg and had the right unclipped, in case of a tumble.

been waiting ages to get the mtb out for the commute. it was only really needed on the side streets, and because it's sat idle for so long the rear mech cable has gone slack so it's running as a three-speed, and not in a high gear either.

no bike for me today - was meant to be travelling out of london for work but didnt get very far as the trains are broken. over a foot on snow here so bike wasn't really an option.

on my aborted journey to the station I saw quite a few people trying to cycle in - those on MTBs very fairing better than the roadies (but not by much...). in the space of 10 mins I saw 4 cyclists hit the deck. oh...and surprise, surprise, one impatient motorist who was beeping at a slow moving cyclist!

We've had an inch or two of snow here. I've got the knobblies on the MTB commuter at the moment due to muddiness in the woods. So it was working fine on the fresh snow in the woods. Some of the road bits were a bit tricky, mainly where wheel spinning / sliding cars had squished it all down. So I just went the even longer way round and stayed off road as much as possible. It was great; I was grinning all the way here. ;)

Saw two cars, on separate occasions, beeping peds walking in the road in front of them!

A bus driver completely pulled out of his bus lane into the right hand lane to gently overtake me on my bike this morning - a very rare occurrence that buses bother to swap lanes on this stretch of road. Now this was either him being considerate due to the weather, or impatient because he just wanted to get by.

I really think it was him being considerate! Maybe it should snow more often! ;)

I went on the fixed with 23mm tyres.
Only a 3 mile round trip to uni but I had one off, albeit a fairly slow and controlled one:tongue:

Stuck @ Waterloo.Seems pointless to go home as im on at 5am tomorrow.

I know they generally start above ground, but I do always think it's a bit pathetic if the tube is affected by snow...

I have to ride home later, about a mile and a half, could be fun. I'm trying to decide between roads, which are probably clear, and the riverside path, which is probably pretty, but ungritted - I almost fancy giving it a go. I'm on Big Apples, only pumped them up last week, may have to let them down a bit. I may end up walking, but I've not got wellies with me, so that'll mean damp feet!

Providing there's no ice, and the snow isn't too deep. SKinny tires pumped up hard cut through to decent surface underneath and you're fine. Of course it's not easy to avoid ice and "too" isn't much either but in manchester it's fairly trivial. I'll certainly ride in tomorrow.
