I'm amazed to see her at 2 & 3, beating the likes of Austen and Dickens. Haven't read her for awhile, but I don't remember being particularly impressed. Bit stodgy, I seem to recall. Not bad...but not that good either. Maybe I'd appreciate her more now. But I suspect I'd still be surprised by the 2&3.

Lighthouse was good, as was Orlando. If these are too heavy for you, try the one about Elizabeth Barrat Browning's dog.

I did not see HG Wells in the list. Criminal omission.
