I have a black bike and did have black sks stuff on it. When a mudguard broke I put on a front silver one and it just looks nicer.
The downside of silver is that most of the stuff on the market is black so you maybe restricted in some of your choices.
I think plastic bottle cages maybe better from scratching the bottles less but hopefully someone will have a more informed opinion.
