I bought a couple Vittoria Rubino Pros (folding 28s) back in 2023 and liked them alot: lightweight, pretty durable, good rolling resistance and they were only £14.49.

I can't recall what iteration of them I bought but now when I search for them the price has gone up to atleast £25.00 each.

Anyone know where they're going cheap or know of similar spec tyres?

Zaffiro Pro aren't bad either. Got them on both road bikes. The fancier versions do go for a bit more but £25 isn't bad for a fast tyre.

indeed , the rubber is harder on the zaffiro`s so they last a bit longer too i found .This supposedly gives a bit of a harsher ride but i cant tell the difference.
Condor cycles have rigid 28s for £12.99

£25 is still cheap for a decent tyre which they are as you say 👍
Personally I far prefer the Rubino over the Zaffiro, where I found the grip lacking and didn't wear well (probably not the pro version though)

I have Rubino 28s on my CAAD5. I like them too. Sorry, I can't find them much below £25 either.

I have a Zaffiro Pro 28 on my DIY 6-speed bike. I get on okay with that but do think the Rubinos are slightly better.

One thing I noticed though... The Rubinos are a bit undersized on my Campagnolo Neutron rims. I don't have callipers to measure the tyres but using the jaws of a 12" adjustable spanner to grip the sides of the tyres, the Rubinos are both clearly at least 2 mm narrower than the Zaffiro on a Campagnolo Khamsin rim.

A steel rule across the jaws of the spanner suggests that my Rubinos in that setup are nearer 26s!

A mate has some vernier callipers. I will get him to measure the tyres properly for me.

If I could be bothered to, I would switch tyres between rims to see if the difference remains.

I found zaffiros harder wearing but its down to the roads and conditions you ride in etc etc so its not worth quibbling , i recently fitted the version with the graphene in as i got them in a sale a while back and they are better than the bog standard version

They may have changed but when I used to use Rubinos, 20-odd years ago, they were very much winter tyres; hard-wearing and very, very slow-rolling.

They are - they're 'training tyres' or for commuting. Rubino's are good for general use and I find Zaffiro's too slippy in the wet. GP5000's are nice, but too good for commuting.

It's all about the cost / benefit...

Rubino pro hit the sweet spot for me.

Gp5000 are too spendy for me tbh.
