A few other networks have issues too, apparently.

Well it's shortly before that time that I requested a PAC code

It's not so long ago since O2 had a similar problem. IIRC that was as simple as a certificate that had expired somewhere deep in the bowels of the network. This was likely a similar SNAFU.

Many moons ago (when 3G was new) I worked for Vodafone but, wisely they never let me near the main networks.
