That's a weird take on what must have been a humiliating day for him. The last tbing he'd want was a public picking over the carcass by rabid journalists.
I sympathise with any sports person having to explain their failures in public immediately after the event. I remember several female tennis players being reduced to tears by the press.
fark them I say.

On the other hand I've seen some really honest interviews post race. One at the last athletic worlds I remember!

Tactically genius from Rui Costa lol...frustrating but effective.
Reminded me of the stage with Pinot in the Tour this year,I think it was with Cepeda from EF ? Except we got some animated arm throwing from Thibaut 😂
