At first, I struggled with the subtitles. That is a distraction, I agree. I hope Ken Branagh does some more. I would still watch the English one, I just prefer the Swedish lead actor.
I would love to see the earlier Wallender series from 1994 onwards featuring powerhouse Swedish actor Rolf Lassgard as Kurt Wallender. There's some clips of him on youtube and I have to say he is very very good.
Until I watched the "Who is Wallendar?" I did not realise there had been a much earlier series. I enjoyed Maigret, the recent series, not the one from the 70's.
Realise it's probably been shown before but last night's Wallander was first rate.
I'd also add that the rather stern lady from the farm down the road can head-butt for Sweden. Quite a punch too - ouch!
I like the Swedish series and the actor who plays Wallander is a big bear of a man who seems to catch him well. I think the Branagh version is pretty good but I can't stand the portrayal of his daughter: IMO the actress is pathetic. I can't believe that anybody speaks in that manner in real life (either in Sweden or the UK).
