A scrote is fleeing from a car that has been driven into a parked vehicle

A public-spirited neighbour (or maybe even the owner of the struck vehicle?) chases the scrote.... swings a punch at him
Scrote takes a brick pillar (at end of a wall, & maybe 7 courses high) down with his face

My neighbour is a farmer who occasionally comes out to find cars embedded in her walls. She says the occupants always run away.

Under common law, pace, and the criminal law act you can use force affect an arrest. The former and latter both apply to civilians.

Of course, that's assuming they arrested him and aren't marching him off to the pig farm...

What he did was a public spirited act by making a citizens arrest imo. He used reasonable force.

THink the Police would agree, it was reasonable force as it was more a push than a punch, and the wall did the most damage so scrote could maybe charged with criminal damage of the wall too?
