Good God - 30 yrs old & 20 grand! Does nothing for me, but that's pretty impressive on the 'holding its value' front.

It would have been circa $15,500 - £16,000 when new

£22,500, for a '72; http://www.landrovercentre.com/listings/eoe652k/

Number 1 is conservatively valued @ £100,000 for insurance purposes, & I've drooled over it many times in the showroom

My last Landie was a 110Td5 Station Wagon

Richard didn't I know you on LROI? I used to post on there as BenR.

Here's a picture of our 1986 ex-MOD 90, we sold it a few years ago and we miss it desperately. What was worse was that the bloke who bought it was a rubbish driver with zero mechanical sympathy who admitted that he just wanted something to "run into the ground"!

Phew, V8 petrol...I worked for a surveying company in 1976' driving V8 landrovers, about 40% of a days driving was offroad.
I used to LOVE it...but they had to have their tanks filled...EVERY day.

I love my 19 year old Land Rover. The rain leaks in over the top of the off side window. Wind blows through the back window which never did fit, and in the winter there is more ice inside than out. As it melts off the sun roof both driver and passenger get wet. However, I the old girl. You can take a Defender (I would like to shoot the person who came up with that stupid name) anywhere and blend in. Long may she run.

I must admit a soft spot for old Land Rovers, but more like Series 2/3 LWB and FC models.
Tempted to get one as a restoration project one day and convert it to electric. I have just the motor for it ready and waiting.

My last Land Rover was a 110 V8, I think it drank petrol at about 9mpg or less! I only had it as a part ex for my Matador and filled the tank once, drove it a bit and then got rid quickly. I did also have a rare two wheel drive ex RAF series 1 for a while too.

Range Rovers don't do it for me at all though, not even the Classic ones, nice though they are.
