Hi, I plan to do a tour of Holland in June 2011 using the Dutch National Cycle Network routes.

However, the route maps cost about £20 each with delivery and I'd need about six or seven!!!

Does anyone have any of these maps that I could borrow until June after which I'd return them to you? Or any other useful cycling map of holland?

thanks

Where are you looking to go?

I have the ronde van Nederlands map book, which utilises LF routes to circumnavigate the whole of the Netherlands, so not much use for any stuff in the 'middle'

That said, I would have been fine with a paper map of the Netherlands, and use that for an idea of the orientation of towns, and just use the well placed and accurate cycle route signs to navigate between them.

Agree with ComedyPilot, just get a map of Holland and follow the well placed signs from place to place. Don't worry, very difficult to get lost here.
The LF routes go through every tiny village and back street of Holland, it will get very old very fast. You can follow one for a while when you eventualy come accross one and see what I mean.

I have never found it necessary to have a route map - unless you have an ambition to do a route not necessery - ordinary map and pick your destination - the route c/w cycle signs will become immediately obvious when you get to it

Ask a local to direct you to the nearest VVV (vay vay vay) or ANWB office when you arrive in the Netherlands and you will find a map there at reasonable cost to suit your needs.
As others have said, navigation is very straightforward there, but a map is handy now and again just to fix your position in the country and stop you overunning into Germany or Belgium.

This website gives a quite good introduction to how the cycle path markers work in Holland.

http://www.cycletourer.co.uk/cycletouring/holland.shtml

The Dutch websites give a "cycling by numbers" way of following routes from marker to marker, but I got seriously lost in both Zandvoort and Haarlem by missing signs in the cities. I just asked the friendly locals, and they were all very helpful.

If you want paper maps in advance of your trip and for planning purposes, this Dutch map retailer is fabulous.

Fietskaarten means cycling maps, BTW.

You have to buy online, and the website is in Dutch, but just pick up the phone and a friendly Dutch lady will talk you through the process with infinite patience.

Have fun.
