Hi

Does anyone have an old speed sensor for a Cateye Micro Wireless bike computer? I got it free here last year but the sensor broke after a few months. I'm not really wanting to spend any money on it so free or very cheap would be ideal

Cheers

You do know there is a battery in the sender unit don't you? I can't help you with a new sensor but I have just bought my third set so I have one on each of my bikes. They have introduced a new square model but I have managed to buy a new and boxed shield shaped one. I have seen spare mount/sender kits advertised to allow the head unit to be swapped between bikes but they cost almost as much as a full replacement set.

DSC_0139.jpg I have a spare sensor for the pictured unit if that suits. One problem on my the unit: the screw holding the sensor to the bracket sheared when I tried to remove it so I took the complete bracket and sensor from my other bike and mounted that as a single unit facing front on the fork to expose the battery compartment. Wasn't happy to risk the screw breaking on a second sensor. You might suffer the same fate with this unit but you don't need to separate the bracket and sensor, if you follow. Let me know, will include a CR2032 battery with about 12 hours of use on it. Gerry

That's as good a picture as I could manage. I have two sensors one with the retaining screw sheared and one that is ok but the screw is very tight on this one too so I am reluctant to attempt to remove it. I use a Garmin 200 now so have no need for any of this. Hoping to sell or swap the full set but you're welcome to the possibly iffy sensor and rubber fixing pad. The sensor itself seems tight to the bracket but there is still some of the retaining screw in it. A little glue along the joining edge and in the top should retain it but as it is attached from underneath you never know. Gerry

You can have the dodgy one for nothing if you like. Should be fine. You can have the complete set for £15 including the damaged sensor and the proper one of course, if that suits but I'd rather sell the actual computer With the fully working sensor. The slightly damaged sensor should be fine if that's all you. need. Let me know what you want to do so I can sort it out for you. Gez
