Hi. Myself and 2 colleagues are planning on doing the above ride over a weekend in Augaust, I was just wondering if anybody had rode any of these routes before, we will probably go from Warrington to Shrewsbury down the A49 then carry on to Hereford area then across to Gloucester and down to Bristol from there. 2 off us ride the A49 reguarly but only go as low as the Tarporley/Beeston area. Has anybody ever rode this route or any other routes in the same direction?

For the Bristol to Guildford route we have looked and the A4 looks the more direct route but does anybody know what this road is like.

The ride will be a charity ride, riding between our 3 offices (Warrington, Thornbury Bristol & Guildford).

If anybody has any suggetions or advice I look forward to hearing it.

Thank in advance.

From Hereford you could go to Monmouth , Chepstow and across the old Severn Bridge cycle path then on to Thornbury. Possibly shorter and quite a scenic ride.

The A road between Monmouth and Chepstow is a good ride scenic ,follows the river down past Tintern Abbey.

I'd go all the way to Chepstow area (via Shrewsbury, Leominster, Hereford, Monmouth etc.) along the Wye Valley and then cross the severen Bridge - I did that route on LEJOG - it was nice!
Better still would be to 'country lane' it, but navigation would be more difficult and distance longer.
