So there I was, coming up to the one of Birmingham's many roundabouts. I was less than 30 feet away, and doing close to 20 mph. In primary, naturally - to aid those road users possessing, shall we say, fewer faculties. Beep. Because, yes, the munchkin behind me is of the opinion that 30 feet from a roundabout is the ideal place for overtaking. Naturally, I stay in primary as I'm going over the roundabout and would prefer not to chance getting left hooked by someone whose judgement may be a juror short of a full court.
Over the roundabout, and my helpful horn blower is still behind me. Since there's a bumpkin with uncertain competence, I stay in primary. To ensure I have plenty of space in case I need it. For safety. Obviously.
And perhaps I ought to slow down somewhat. Just to be on the safe side. Of course. With a last beep of the horn, he actually does a good overtake... and gets stopped just down the road at a set of temporary lights, amusingly.
Was I wrong in not showing my appreciation in the form a one fingered salute???
