We get to look at it in bits in the NRM, they are after a shed load of money again to sort it out. The Scotsman cursed everyone who's owned her, poor thing shame she is such a red herring.

What I liked about the film is that it was not purely a cycling film - it was about the human side of things - the man himself. Great film. When watching the 'film of the book' I never expect it to be'as good as' because there is no waya 90-minute film can get in the entire contents of the book. Saying that, the film was a damn fine representation.

You know, I can't finish that book? I know Graeme - not well, but he is such a lovely guy, and I find the second half of that book way too hard to read. I doubt I'll ever watch the film. He is, in my mind, an authentic hero - as much for being honest about mental illness as for what he's done on a bike.

Just imagine if you were cycling along a country lane in the dark like that and you ran into the rear end of an unlit Jersey cow......

thats because when the railways withdrew steam services they drew up a short list of locomotives to preserve.

the scotsman got overlooked due to 'there being only one space for an LNER pacific' and that was the mallard due to it being the record holder.

ah well.

I used to live beside the East Lancs Railway (part owned by Pete Waterman) and one day the big blue Mallard class loco chuffed past. My neighbour saw it and remarked: "There goes that Nigel Dempster"!
