Water in the Rims?

I got back from a 55mile cycle a few weeks back soaked and worn out. I gave the bike a quick clean the day after but I've not ridden that bike since. Today anyway I thought I'd give a better clean and discovered water in the rear rim. Is this likely to caused a problem ? the only consolation is it was clear water.

It shouldn't do, it is quite a common complaint. The water gets in past the valve and the spoke nipples. It finds it's way out again as you ride.
