Pros and cons?
Our water bill is £390 per annum.
This is for 2 adults and a young child.

We don't have a water meter so would it be worth us getting one?

Perhaps selfish, but i refuse to have one.
We all (in my household) like baths, personally i hate showers. I do have a lifelong bad back so a hot soak at the end of the day does me wonders.
Having had kids and now having grandkids, i like to have a small paddlling pool when the weathers hot.

My in laws have a meter and although he (the FIL) may be a bit OTT, ive seen what it does to some people, he's become obsessed with water useage. I dont want to turn into my FIL, worry about having 3 baths a day run in our house, worry about how much water is going into the paddling pool etc etc etc.

And to save what ? maybe £1 a week according to some peoples bills above, with a meter.

BTW, you perhaps already have a meter installed Ian, i have, they did everyones in the area some time ago, you just have to elect to go on the system.

£18 a month with 1 adult and two children with a meter, down from £35 without. It has definitely made us more careful with water usage.

It might sound a bit radical but you could always fit your own water meter for a few months to see what your consumption is. A meter costs about £25 and it's a doddle to fit if you have basic plumbing skills. You can pretty much do whatever you want to the mains plumbing in your house as long as the work is downstream of the Water Company's stopcock.
