£70.50 a month on a meter for two adults and occasional visitors. 10 years ago in a previous property we were paying £47.00 a month when not on a meter. That's one of the downs of the South West
How did they force you to have one fitted?
not so much forced as we hadnt had one fitted so they were compulsory fitting and if you wanted to go with meter bills you could so we said yes and then will see how it goes

Saves me a fortune, live alone (+ cat who has one glass of water every couple of days, odd beast), £13 a month at the mo and seems to go down every year. Shower every day, bath once or twice a week, diswasher run 3x a week, washing machine 2-3x a week, 3+ mugs of tea a day. I don't really watch my water usage. I think my rates were about £40 a month previously

Jesus what were you running a B&B ??
SWW is one of, if not, the most expensive suppliers of water in the country. We all have to fund the 'clean beach' programme, and in recent decades the investments in flood prevention have been huge...........so they tell us

It might sound a bit radical but you could always fit your own water meter for a few months to see what your consumption is. A meter costs about £25 and it's a doddle to fit if you have basic plumbing skills. You can pretty much do whatever you want to the mains plumbing in your house as long as the work is downstream of the Water Company's stopcock.

This is a good plan. I live by myself with no water meter I am getting shafted for definite. My main fear having a water meter fitted is that I believe that they are actually not fitted at the property itself but somewhere on the street. If there is a leak between the meter and the house you are responsible for it. I guess using your method would highlight a leak but lord knows how much it would be to fix.

well after having one fitted since March , we were paying £56 for 10 months usage if the first bill for 3 months is anything to go by we should be saving £290 per year
