Won't it make the cheese go soggy?

Hot water, soap and a flannel should do the trick!

Here's a few lines I wrote in memory of The Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite:

they shot you
at the moon
to create a plume
I don't think we'll be seeing you
anytime soon

I know. Powerful stuff.

Very moving, JJ. or did you nick it of Water de la Mare:wacko:

Of course there's water on the Moon. Armstrong, Aldrin, all that bunch, they were up there for hours. Surely at least one of them would have had to 'go' sometime...

Actually I sometimes wonder why they didn't ever send an Apollo to one of the Moon's poles (which is obviously, being the coolest region, the best place to look for water). As long as the Earth was still above the horizon, it would have been feasible. But then, NASA ran out of funds and cancelled the last three Apollos.

I'm no expert on orbital mechanics, but I think getting into a polar Lunar orbit rather than equatorial takes a lot more fuel. The handy thing about the orbit they did plump for is that if you don't do a burn to get you into a lunar orbit, you just scoot around the Moon and come back again. Came in handy for Apollo 13, that.
Of course, had Project Orion come to fruition, we'd have colonies on the Moon, Mars and Titan by now...
