This thread, good advice aside is a good example of the confusion caused by there being no standard for measuring the water resistance/proofness of bags or clothing. Some clarification(?) here

Little behind the curve I realise  Overboard do an excellent line in waterproof bags. You can either use the dry bags inside your current rucksack or something like their 20l Pro Viz backpack. Waterproof, great reflectives and a point to hook a light to

I bought one of these from a seller on Ebay: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/polaris/aquanought-backpack-ec043154

Looks great...appalling quality.

Took the seller yonks to send it (not Polaris' fault!) but when I emailed Polaris pictures of how the bag had degraded within 4 months, they said 'sorry, send it back to person you bought it from.' Fair enough in a way, but given the Ebayer was not great at communication, I wasn't minded to do anything. Binned it.

Ortlieb seem to be the go-to ones.

It is the sellers/retailers responsibility to deal with warranty issues

No problem. As a distributor/manufacturer once you've sent a product to a retailer you have to rely on them to channel warranty work. While I'm sure yours is the real thing there are a number of people not as honest as you passing off damaged and stolen goods as faulty/not fit for purpose as a means of fencing goods. There are also those who have bought goods abroad who expect UK retailers & distributors to pick up the expense of warranty without putting a penny into the shop. You rely on your retailers to back your brands and support their customers.

Serious thread bump here, but I was cycling home last night and saw a motorcyclist ride past with one of these on:

http://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/drybag-daypack.html

It caught my eye as it's pretty much identical to the Polaris Aquanought (which I have and is of frankly appalling quality) but is almost just 1/3 of the price - Polaris is RRP £69.99 according to Evans, the Lomo is £25!!

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that they're all knocked-up in the same far east factory, but interesting that one company would charge so much less of a premium than another.

So, if you're after a cheap waterproof backpack, there you go - £25. Prob won't last long if mine is anything to go by though!
