Waterproof trousers work!

Well I had to come up with something for a thread so here it goes...

I have always said I'd never ride in waterproof trousers, too hot and sweaty. But now I ride to where I am working, work, ride to next place etc. So I don't get to change out of wet clothes. Well having bought some trousers last week they were on all the time and I wasn't too sweaty and I stayed dry! Think they really work for commuting. I also got the altura night vision ones to help me stand out!

what sort of distances are you going between destinations? have you been out in the torrential rain yet? i've given up on waterproof trousers after spending a fortune (£100) and still got soaked?mmmm... interesting your going the opposite way...perhaps i'm doing something wrong?

You got posh ones - my aldi specials have been very good in torrential downpours.....

i got the endura ones, ok in showers to medium hard rain. but in torrential downpours the rain gets in and then it gets cold. thermal tights work better for me. i will use them when it snows tho, i remember last winter that when snow sticks to my tights, it's freezing.

Well I rode all the last two weeks so yes lots of torrential rain! I got Altura nightvision stuff as I want to be seen as well. I used to ride in a nightvision jacket but when I wasn't working Ali started using it, so I got a new one in pink!!!

My distances vary Shaun, 6miles is the shortest up to 25. Longest in a day with the trousers was 35miles. The big thing for me is I am wearing the same clothes all day. When I used to commute to one place, change and shower I wasn't bothered about being wet. No plans yet to mountain bike in them, but if they weather is bad I might try it!

Must say the Aldi ones have been 100% waterproof - bit boil in bag, but saved for proper wet commutes.

As for tights, I've got some that are windproof over the knee and thigh area - work fantastically in very cold (sub zero to 5c) conditions. Too hot over that, and it's back to standard tights/bikesters.

I have eVent trousers. £100 but waterproof and not sweaty, so worth the dosh so long as they last a good few years.

I got a pair of altura ones, not sure which kind. They are boil in the bag slightly, but if they keep the water out and keep the mud of me, then i'm game!

That's what Mr Summerdays has and he loves them.

Me I use waterproof trousers to stop deluges, and moderate rain (and to keep me warm occasionially. But they do restrict my cycling - for example I find it much more difficult to get on a bike wearing them.
